Last last last x92838 week, Ivy was in town. Shes always full of surprise. I still remember when I was having lunch break that time, rather late lunch at around 2pm, she whatsapp-ed me to ask to head to Bukit Indah Jusco immediately to meet her. I was like, wth this girl, dont bluff me because you're in Labuan mining petrol HAHAHAH. Little did I know that she was serious, she was freaking in town! No notice, just all of the sudden. She said she had this sudden leave for a few days, booked ticket and just be gone. Nice, real nice.
Of course I didnt go to meet her that afternoon la, it was Friday, as if I dont need to work lol. Once again, everybody thought I am always free HAHAHA. But if it wasnt because I had those urgent requests I needed to attend to after lunch, I would have gone to meet her hehehhe.
Anyway, we decided to meet that night. I couldnt make it on Saturday, it was our turn to lead the PNW session and shes leaving already on Sunday morning. She proposed to go for korean BBQ, at first I rejected because I didnt feel well enough to go for that. Sore throat, plus I had to sing the next day. I wanted to go for Japanese cuisine instead, but so reluctant to turn Ivy down because all the while she wished to go for BBQ. Hao la hao la in the end we went with her plan.
Notified Mr. Siaw and we agreed to meet at 7.30pm at Palsaik Korean BBQ Sutera. One of Mr. Siaw's habit, it kinda becomes his culture already, he must be late. And that day, he was freaking late. We were supposed to reach at 7.30pm, but he only appeared at my door at 7.30pm lol. We reached a little bit off 8pm.
The first thing I notice was this. Piggy numbering plat HAHAHA. Where can we find this else where? This BBQ only serves pork. No lark, no lamb, no chicken, no beef, only pork. I lost the photos of the menu, but it basically only serves 3 sets of BBQ and some side orders. You can find more info about their menu at their official link here. Not many, but sufficient.
This is counted as side dishes gua, korean BBQ always serves with many side dishes. This, Idk the name la, but it was nice. A little sour taste, a little onion taste with much veggie taste hahah. Only a small plate, I couldnt get enough!
This, the famous Korean kimchi. The set we ordered, this was included. A small serving also la, but enough for Achi and Ivy. Mr. Siaw and I dont like kimchi. I guess this is one of the very very few common things that we dont like.
Side dishes, side dishes. This restaurant, unlike the others, they dont serve the side dishes separately. Usually, from my previous visits to the other Korean BBQ restaurants, once we made orders, our table was crowded with a lot of side dishes, almost immediately. But not for Palsaik. It has a big rectangular flat stone plate, or whatever you wanna call it, in the middle of the table. Slightly tilted to the right from my view, Achi said the tilt helps to dispose the excess oil into a small hole. And then most of the side dishes, the waiters there placed it on the stone plate and grilled them together with the pork. Nice design, anyway.
Our set also came with this. What I really dont understand is, four people and we were served with only one prawn, as shown in the photo. LOL do they wish to see us fighting over that one prawn? Dont think this soup is remarkably delicious, because I dont remember the taste anymore hahaha, not even its scent.
Aha, ta-dah! The main course. Palsaik means 八色, by that name it means they serve 8 differently marinated pork slices, in which each marinade results in 8 different colours of pork slices. The size of each slice is not very big, but not very small as well. Quite thick and 8, just enough for 4 people.
From the left, Ginseng, Wine, Pine leaves, Garlic, Herbs, Curry, Soy Bean and Hot Pepper.
There is also instructions, try by the order for better tasting experience, starting from Ginseng. Take a close look at the pork, Not very fat nor oily, well marinated.
First round, 4 slices. Ginseng, Wine, Pine and Garlic. I am already hungry looking at the photos hahahaha. They taste very nice. I personally like Garlic very much hahahah, the slices, they typically burst inside your mouth, burst from the vegetable we used to wrap the pork la hahahah.
Why do boys always look like kids comparing to girls? ZZZ
Second round, Herb, Curry, Soy Bean and Hot Pepper. The names sound spicy, but I find them still fine. Surprisely, for this round, my favourite goes to Herb. Everybody knows I hate herbs, especially chinese herbs, I find them too special for my fond, and I usually avoid them unless I am forced to. But Idk what Palsaik did to the herbs, maybe they do not use those herbs that I hate, I like the smell.
This is included in our set as well. Initially I thought they were some kind of waterborne creatures, but no, they are grilled deodeok. Deodeok is Lanceolate roots, some kind of roots la. We actually ate roots that day. Roots!
Overall, the meal is great. Not very expensive too, RM17x? I forgot le but its around that price for 4 persons with 3 aloe vera tea drinks. However, I still prefer the previous BBQ I went last time near The Zone, Jang Won Korean BBQ? I went with Ivy and Achi too hahahaha. Will blog about that next time.
Will I visit the restaurant again? Less likely, as I said, I prefer Jang Won more.
